Staying home with Kayla is great, but I don’t want to give the impression that we don’t have our share of challenging days. Today was one of them. This is day #6 for Kayla’s cold, and day #4 for me. In general, that means for a little more crankiness than usual (from both of us!). It was also a day full of throwing crayons from the high chair, throwing food at meal times, pouring water out of the bathtub, fighting diaper changes, and more. It’s hard to stay patient, and I find myself asking for God’s help throughout the day.
Kayla couldn’t go to Baby Church again tonight, so I stayed home with her. One nice thing is that I was able to get her to bed early, which helps when she’s sick. Before she went to bed, we read from her Bible and also a few other books. Kayla absolutely loves her Bible. (God is answering all those prayers we’ve prayed that she would love His Word!) Tonight she was fascinated by the picture of the ravens feeding bread to Elijah. Then she also wanted to read a Christmas book about Baby Jesus. She loves the part at the end where it says “we give gifts at Christmas to show our love and to say ‘Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus.'” Then we of course sing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus. And for some reason, it’s moments like these that make you forget about the challenging parts of the day.
