On Saturday we celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary. Aaron planned the evening, and he certainly did a great job.
We spent the weekend in Grand Rapids for numerous reasons. The main reason was that Aaron’s sister, Rachel, was in town and getting ready to leave for Peru. She just finished her first year at Bob Jones University, and now she’s heading to Peru for 11 months to study and do missionary work. Aaron’s grandparents from Minnesota were also in town, so they, along with Rachel, got to meet Madeline for the first time.
So anyway, we were in Grand Rapids Thursday night through Sunday night. Our anniversary was Saturday, and we had a handful of babysitters for the girls. We headed to downtown GR in the late afternoon and spent some time at a book store. Then we went to Charley’s Crab, a fine dining restuarant right on the Grand River. It was outstanding! We still had a little time (I had pumped milk and left a bottle for Madeline), so we went to Chili’s and sat in the bar so we could watch the rest of the Pistons game. They lost, but we had fun anyway. 🙂
Other things going on in our life … Aaron received a couple awards at the Alma College Employee Awards Banquet on Thursday. The Human Resources Department called me earlier in the week to see if I could come to surprise Aaron. I took the girls (with help from my mom) so we could be there to see him receive the Presidential Award for Excellence and also a Five Year Award. We were very proud of him!
Kayla turns two next week! We’re having a couple birthday parties for her Memorial Day weekend, and we’re also taking her to get her pictures taken.
Madeline is doing very well. She’s getting so big and is starting to be awake for longer periods of time. She definitely has night time figured out, as she usually sleeps for about 4-5 hours at night. She just wakes for one middle-of-the-night feeding, takes less than 20 minutes to eat, and then is back to sleep. She’s such a sweet little girl, and Kayla absolutely adores her little sister.
Well, I’m going to make a yummy fruit smoothie, feed Madeline and then head to bed!
