Being a Mommy

August 7, 2004 - By Jen

Life sure has changed now that I’m a mommy. Read on to find out my favorite things about this new stage of life.

First, I love spending time with Kayla. I consider myself extremely privileged that I can stay home with Kayla, and I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it would be to leave her each day for work. On a given day, we may do any of the following: read books, play with toys, practice sitting and standing (with help, of course), walk through town, run an errand or two, take a bath, swing, dance and listen to music. We have so much fun together!

Kayla still takes a lot of naps during the day, and sometimes I find myself watching the clock and counting down the minutes until she’ll wake up. She’s just such a joy, and her smiles completely brighten my day. And our conversations are the best! She has lots to say these days.

Babies are so incredibly neat. I never knew how amazing they can be, and I never knew how much I’d love being a mom. I recently turned down an offer to teach dance because I wanted to have plenty of time to spend with Kayla and Aaron. I figured being a mom and wife, as well as doing some ministry stuff at church and taking a dance class myself is enough to keep me busy!

One last thing I like about being a mom … changing diapers! Who would have known? 🙂
