“Boo Boo Sneezed” by Kayla Kerr

January 16, 2007 - By Jen

Each night, and often several times throughout the day, Aaron and I tell Kayla stories. Some of the famous ones include tales of Squeakers the Monkey, the Honey Bear and Bazella the Princess. And of course there are always stories from when Daddy was a little boy and Mommy was a little girl (these are usually stories about our pets and siblings, though an occasional story about breaking Ms. Joann’s house is in the mix).

The other day Kayla was playing with her farm animals when Madeline tried to swap the sheep. Kayla is usually pretty good about sharing, but at that moment it was obvious Kayla had plans to keep all the animals to herself. She explained that she was trying to tell a story, so here it is. I wrote it down as she was telling it (and she kept asking me, “Mommy, why are you writing?”).

Once there was a little chick. He went to someone’s house. Then Boo Boo came and he sneezed and the chick went in the door. While he was gone there was a little sheep, and his name was Pinky Pig. And they played together. Then there was a little cow named Billy Goat, and his name was Pinky Pig, too. He went to Boo Boo’s house and he sneezed in the door, too. Then there was a little horse …

To be continued for another day!

I know the story doesn’t make complete sense, but I thought it was cute. I liked the recurring sneezing theme, too. Maybe Kayla and I will provide photos or illustration to go with her story some day.

Hooray for Kayla the story teller. It shows that she has a good creative head on her shoulders.

I like the story. It’s cute because Boo Boo does sneeze alot doesn’t he? I remember him having some sinus issues since he was little. Either way, Kayla is so observant and creative. What a great story!
