Tonight, after Jen left for dance, I put Kayla’s cute little red fleece jacket on her and then strapped her into her baby carrier/car seat. Then we headed to Target together to pick out a little space heater for her room. We like to keep the house pretty cool at night during the winter to save on heating costs. A small heater for her room will help make sure that it doesn’t get too cold in her room. After we picked out a good heater, we wandered over to the toy department. I like to walk down the aisle of stuffed animals and pick out the most brightly-colored ones. I hold them up for Kayla to see and wait for a smile. Then we just wandered around the store a little more. Kayla is totally calm when you’re walking her around in a shopping card; she just sits in her little baby carrier and watches things go by.
Next, we gassed up the car and then hit our local bookstore. I set Kayla’s carrier on the floor at one end of an aisle and then browse the length of it. She just sits and watches me. We grabbed a latte on the way out (none for Kayla) and then headed home. As I sit now and type, she’s playing happily in her little swing, trying to eat the little blue plastic teddy bear that is fastened to the tray in front of her. She’s been at it for a good ten minutes and seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself.
Mommy will be home from dance before too long. Then Kayla eats around 9:00 and then goes to the bed for the night. She’s sleeping a solid ten and a half hours at night now, which is extremely nice for us. It gives us some time to spend alone in the evenings and assures that Kayla gets plenty of rest and wakes up happy in the morning.
Before I go, one cute picture I just had to share from the few hours we spent in Grand Haven on Friday. What a cutie!
