Finally, after being on my to do list for months, I cleaned my bathroom! I have “cleaned” my bathroom over the past several months, but it’s been the light, do-what-is-absolutely-necessary type of cleaning. I had been wanting a chance to do it all—mop floors, scrub the shower (and the shower curtain—I won’t comment on how bad that had gotten), along with the more routine tasks like cleaning the toilet, counter and mirrors.
I didn’t plan to do it yesterday. But then it just sort of happened. The girls were both taking naps, and I sensed it was the time. This seems silly, but I had so much fun! And I felt so good!
I admit that cleaning my bathroom like this wasn’t something I did out of my own strength; it was truly by God’s grace that I was able to do this. You see, I almost always try to do too much. And with two little ones, it’s just hard to do much of anything besides the routine, daily tasks. On Tuesday I had one of those defining moments where I realized I just can’t do it all, even if I stay up all night to work on things. I am a limited being and am only capable of so much. God, on the other hand, has everything I need and can help me navigate through life and my to do lists. Wednesday morning, knowing I would be outside the home in the morning, afternoon and evening, I asked for God’s grace. Going places with or without kids can add stress to our home life, so I just asked that God would help me do the best I could with a too busy day (and I apologized for taking on too many commitments). Would you believe that not only did our outings go great, but I had a chance to significantly clean our bathroom, too? Having an unexpected window in an already full day was amazing—and so much more fun than staying up really late to clean my bathroom.

Good job Jenni–you’re so cute! But you’re defnitely too hard on yourself sometimes. Remember to pay attention to all the wonderful things you do on a daily basis, and how much you are investing into your beautiful girls!! I luv you!!
