My Spanish-Speaking Friends

November 13, 2006 - By Jen

Recently I’ve become acquainted with two Spanish-speaking women.  One is Juana, the housekeeper who took care of us during our visit to Chicago this summer.  She is from Mexico and speaks very little English.  We had many good Spanish conversations that week, and recently we’ve even been in touch through the mail.  She wanted me to send her pictures of the girls and me, so I did.  And a couple weeks ago she wrote back with pictures of her daughter!

Yesterday at church I met the wife of an international student.  She is from Ecuador and just came here in September.  She is also a mom and speaks both English and Spanish.  We are going to get together soon to talk–an opportunity for her to practice English, and an opportunity for me to practice Spanish.  🙂

Wow that is so cool. I was just thinking about your family in Spain. That is nice that you are still able to communicate in Spanish. 🙂

That’s so cool Jenni! I’m excited for you. I know it’s fun to keep up the Spanish, and it’ll be nice to be able to get to know women you have things in common with. Sweet 🙂
