Photo Galleries Now Online

I’ve been playing around with a software called Galerie that allows me to create online photo albums very easily. Read on to find out more, or just use “travels” link above to go straight to our galleries.

First things first. We now have photo galleries of our trips to the Pacific Northwest and the Grand Canyon online here. I hope you enjoy them. We certainly enjoyed taking the pictures.

Now for the details. I used Galerie, which is written by Myriad Software and available from their site. It is totally free software that runs on Mac systems running OS X. We used iPhoto, Apple’s photo management software, to store and organize all our digital pictures. Galerie works directly with iPhoto. You just select the photos you want in the gallery from within iPhoto and then switch over to Galerie.

Once in Galerie, you can choose from a few options, such as whether to include dates, titles, and comments from the photos, how many photos per page, how big the photos should be, etc… Then you just click “Generate HTML” and the webpages get generated automatically. It also comes with templates, allowing you to customize how each page looks. This allowed me to have the gallery pages show up with the same look and design as the rest of our site.
