If you’re anything like us, you’ve been busy the past month! December sure brought a lot of fun adventures and projects for us as we prepared for the holidays. I have tons of photos to hopefully post in an album soon, but for now here’s a cute picture of Aaron and the girls.
The left side of the picture shows our Christmas tree, which we found at the VanderSys Tree Farm in early December. And here it is fully decorated.
The tree still stands in our living room, but hopefully we’ll find time this week to take it down and put the Christmas decorations away.
Our school activities in December included many fun things. We made sugar cookies, church windows and a Christmas tree cake (complete with glowing lights). We had an advent calendar, learned about Christmas traditions and sang many Christmas songs. In mid-December we took a sleigh ride with our friends from play group. Besides getting our van stuck in the snow, it was the perfect day. (Thankfully one husband came along that day, and he was extremely helpful getting me out of the snow. I can just picture a bunch of moms–with some of us pregnant–trying to push and dig out such a heavy vehicle!) We concluded our adventure with hot chocolate and Christmas cookies, and then we all stopped and shared pizza together on our way home.
Christmas came quickly, and we managed to accomplish everything except a couple things. We didn’t make the ornaments we had planned to make, and we also never completed the Kerr Christmas card. Instead of focusing on the things that didn’t get done, we were thankful for all the fun things we did to prepare our hearts for Christmas.
We spent time with our families during the days surrounding Christmas. We traveled from Mt. Pleasant to Lansing to Mt. Pleasant to Grand Rapids to Mt. Pleasant in just a matter of days, and thankfully we had good traveling weather. It was fun seeing everyone and also fun being home with just our little family on Christmas morning.
After Christmas Aaron began tearing apart our upstairs bathroom. He is remodeling it for me as my Christmas gift! I’m very excited! It’s the only room in the house that we haven’t done any work to, and we’ve made some pretty detailed plans. Hopefully it will be done soon, but for the meanwhile we’re thankful to live in a house with two full bathrooms.
The girls and I have settled back into our routine now, and we have some exciting school activities planned for the coming weeks. I continue to struggle daily with finding enough time to sleep, clean, plan, etc., but I’m just trying to do what I can and accept that I have limitations!
My pregnancy is going great. I’m 32 weeks now and outgrowing most of my shirts. Thankfully I have a few that cover my belly, but most of the time I’m tugging my shirt down all throughout the day. The baby seems happy and active, and I’m thankful that all is well.
