Since Kayla was about 5-months-old, I’ve been teaching her sign language. Babies can communicate with signs before they are able to talk, and Kayla has already produced a few–all done, more, milk, and please. Today, however, she amazed me with the sign she produced.
Whenever I can tell Kayla is wetting or filling her diaper, I show her the potty sign and say, “Kayla is going potty.” I also use the same sign when I’m using the bathroom. Well, today I needed to use the bathroom, so I showed Kayla the sign and said, “Mommy is going potty.” She them mimicked the sign I made. I immediately checked her, and the diaper I had just changed moments before was warm and wet! Kayla signed that she was going potty! Amazing! Wow, maybe I’ll be able to potty train her early.
Sorry we haven’t been updating the site. We’re pretty lazy with it sometimes, but thank you to those of you who check it so faithfully. We’ll try to do better.
