December Update

December 4, 2004 - By Jen

What’s happening with the Kerrs these days? Well, we’re busy with lots of fun things. This weekend is our church’s big Christmas production; Kayla’s growing like a weed; and Mt. Pleasant is covered with snow! Read on for more.

Downtown Mt. Pleasant hosts an annual Dickens Christmas celebration the first weekend in December, and our church participates by creating and producing a presentation at the Ward Theatre. This year’s presentation is called “Celebrate the Light” and features a 100-voice choir, original videos and more. Check out www.youngchurch.org or www.downtownmtpleasant.com for more. Aaron is singing in the choir, and I’m helping in Baby Church for most of the presentations. Last night we had 16 babies and toddlers–it was a blast!

Little Kayla is growing rapidly! At 6 months of age, she weighs about 18 pounds now, and many people comment on how tall she is already. I guess she takes after her dad in that department. She loves to squeal and giggle, and she’s getting really good at waving “bye bye.” Kayla has a smile on her face about 90% of the time (ok, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration), and I just can’t figure out why she’s so happy! She cracks up when I do my special dinosaur walk for her, and she loves to play peek-a-boo. Kayla’s been sitting on her own for a couple weeks now, and she has two adorable little teeth. They came in around the time she was 5 ½ months. We really need to get some new pictures of her on the website soon. We will, I promise.

Kayla’s been experimenting with new foods, too. She’s still a huge fan of breastmilk, but she’s also starting to try rice cereal, oatmeal, pumpkin and sweet potatoes. It’s interesting watching her eat. I can tell she doesn’t like rice cereal, but we’re still trying to make it work. I’m just starting to make homemade baby food–it’s pretty fun! I’ve only done sweet potatoes so far, but pretty soon I’ll be making a variety of baby foods for Kayla.

We have a bit of snow in Mid-Michigan already! Our first snowstorm hit November 24, the day before Thanksgiving. The evergreen trees we planted this summer aren’t handling the heavy snow too well, but we desperately need to give our landscape some attention this spring anyway! We’ll try to write more soon.
