Tonight, as I was getting Madeline ready for bed, I noticed a splinter in her foot. I had always dreaded this happening to one of the girls. I know how painful it is for me when Aaron does surgery on my splinters, so I knew it would be hard on the little ones. The splinter was pretty well embedded in Madeline’s foot, and it wasn’t just a tiny thing. Aaron and I knew we needed to get it out.
We washed the area with soap and water and kept a warm cloth on it for a few minutes. Kayla and I cuddled Madeline while Aaron went to work with a sterilized needle and tweezers. Madeline, of course, didn’t like it and wouldn’t hold still. We were about to give up, but then Aaron thought to try spraying it with some throat spray (you know, like Cloraseptic). It numbed Madeline’s foot enough that she actually held still, and Aaron was able to remove it. So both of our battles tonight appear to be victorious and really weren’t all that bad!
Wow that is a smart idea.
