Self-Feeding and Sibling-Feeding

January 16, 2007 - By Jen

Sweet little Madeline decided her brief adventure of spoon-feeding has ended. She now plans to feed herself, but she did thank me for making all her baby food.

I gave her a spoon for the first time yesterday, because she signs “all done” and blocks her mouth when I come near her with a spoon. It was messy, but at least she had her independence. She is also eating Gerber puffs, soft veggie and fruit piece and some Cheerios.

Since we just started Cheerios, I break them in half so she can get used to the texture. Last night after dinner Kayla was very excited to feed her sister Cheerios. So Kayla would take a few Cheerios, break them in pieces and put them on Madeline’s tray. What a nice little helper I have!

It is so helpful when the older sibling helps and so sweet too.
